The Pacific County Friends of the Fair Foundation 501c3 (FOF) are excited to announce that they have installed the new arena panels over the weekend at the fairgrounds in Menlo. This is one step closer to the building of a covered arena.
"This is the beginning of a dream some of us have dreamed since we were little kids riding our horses in this same arena," said FOF President Val Rowe.
Pacific County Fair Manager Bill Monohon secured a series of grants that will bring a number of improvements to the fairgrounds. The covered arena project is scheduled to begin directly after the fair this year and is planned for completion in May of 2023.
The price of the Powder River panels came in just under $17K. The cost is split between Pacific County and FOF.
Last Saturday, FOF held a work party of volunteers to put the panels in place. The area is nearly ready for use.
"To all of you that have volunteered your time, donated monetarily, participated in our cattle sorting event, baked or bought items from our bake sales, we thank you for being part of this," said Rowe. "Every dime we bring in goes directly back into the fairgrounds. Here's to a new beginning. Something our community can look forward to. Thank you all for helping us make a difference."
