A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bay City, Oregon for longtime Bay Center resident and commercial fisherman Gailord, “Limey” Damon.
He was born in Newport, Oregon on June 17, 1921, the son of Charles and Evelyn Damon. He was raised in the Brighton, Oregon area and was a longtime fisherman, fishing out of the Nehalem as a youngster and later out of Garibaldi and the Columbia in Astoria, and many years out of the Willapa in Bay Center Washington. “Limey” was a well-known resident of Bay Center, where he and wife, Dora, raised their children. He will be remembered for his generosity and sense of humor.
His wife, Melba, of Redmond, Oregon, a sister, Gladys Young of Crescent City, California, a brother, Robert Damon of Bay Center, daughter, Rosemarie Fisher of Bandon, Oregon, son, Dan Damon of Raymond, Wash., and daughter Deb Damon of Shelton, survives him.
