South Bend Head Coach Gary Wilson said, "We had a great start and strong first quarter. Only being down 12 to 11 against a team like Ilwaco was a good accomplishment." Ilwaco is state ranked this year and came down to Class 2B from Class A.
Coach Wilson went on to say, " We did not handle their transition game well at all in the next three quarters. The effort was there all night and I am very pleased how hard we played. Ashley Pearson lead our scoring with 7 points, followed by Emily Sanchez with 5, Edith Razo with 4, Savannah Burbank with 3 and Emma Lorton and Rielly Myers with 2 each."
The Naselle Comets came to the Koplitz Fieldhouse to meet with the Lady Indians last week. The Indians won with a decisive 45 to 21 final score.
"We really got off to a good start defensively only giving up two points in the first quarter. Our game plan was to take advantage of our post play and we did," said Coach Wilson. "Rielly Myers lead all scorers with 18, followed by Edith Razo with 14 and Emily Sanchez had a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. I am proud of the girls. I have seen steady improvement all season.".
