The Game Night on New Year's Eve was a huge success. Different groups continuously played cribbage, Mexican Train, 5-Crown, Pinochle, Backgammon and more.
This week's activities include a Tea-Hee Red Hats Gathering at 2 p.m. on Thursday in Pioneer Hall. It's an afternoon of fun and games for the ladies in red & purple. Plans for the next Outing on Jan. 22 will be made at that time. "All play and no work!" is the motto.
Friday night's menu at the Cafe will be Baked Chicken prepared by Pastor Bill and his team. The meals include beverage, salad, side dishes along with ice cream for dessert. All for $9! Call Linda at (360) 295-0875 to make reservations.
Back by popular demand is "Open Mic" on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays. Time and place: 7 p.m. at the Café. The entertainment and entertainers vary, so come see what it's all about. The regulars include both locals and visitors. All are welcome.

Tuesday's Senior Nutrition Lunch menu is: Tortellini, Baked Beans, Carrots, Sliced Oranges, Garlic Bread and Cake & Ice Cream. This is the week that the students from Castle Rock come to help out. I don't have details, but there was a chimney fire in town the other night. Our local team of firefighters was on the scene very quickly, which is reassuring. It is also good news that no one was injured. The point I want to make has to do with fire safety: Slow-burning, smoky fires mean creosote is building up in the chimney and creosote is highly flammable. Please use caution when burning wood fires.
