Since the month of November has five weekends this year, there is one more week to prepare for Thanksgiving. That sounds like good news until the calendar reveals one less weekend between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Consider taking advantage of this week and pick up items for the December holidays while out and about. It could be time and money well spent. While the lights are not yet lit, those who truly decorate for Christmas have already started.
In the dining department: Friday night’s Café Dinner will be “All U Can Eat” Pizza, Chicken Wings & Breadsticks. Call Linda at 360-295-0875 to make reservations. There will be no take-outs available for this meal. Meanwhile, call Jan at 360-295-0597 to make reservations for next week’s Nutrition Lunch, which will be Chicken Noodle Soup and Orange Couscous Salad. What is couscous anyway? The easiest way to describe it is “tiny pieces of spaghetti”.
This week’s activities include “Open Mic” on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. in the Café. There has been a good turnout of performers and audience members the past several weeks.
Next is an Ice Cream Social with Card Bingo on Sunday at 6 p.m. in Community Hall. Card Bingo (yes, it’s Bingo played with a deck of cards) is a great place to trade around your change.
Monday has the VFW meeting at 11:30 a.m. in Community Hall – all veterans are invited to participate. Later on Monday, Burgers (beef, chicken or veggie) and Soup are available at the Café from 4 – 6 p.m.
Ryderwood’s traditional Thanksgiving Dinner will be held on Thursday, Nov. 28th at 1 p.m. in the Community Hall Dining Room. The Social Club provides the meats (turkey and ham donations accepted), mashed potatoes and gravy – plan to bring your favorite salads, sides and desserts for the Potluck.
