Toledo’s Saturday Market will be retuning this summer as the Toledo Farmer’s Market, to be held on Thursdays each week rather than weekends.

Spearheaded by resident Renee Terralumina, the market will carry the same emphasis on local crafts and produce and is part of Vision: Toledo’s ongoing efforts to create community and strengthen local businesses.

"I think it’s very much gong to be a broad selection of what’s offered locally," said Terralumina of current vendor involvement, stating produce from local schools as well as confections from Dragonfly Chocolates will be available.

Vendor fees have yet to be set officially, as organizers will know more about the financial needs of the market after the first few months, but Terralumina said they will be far lower than the $20 fee for the Saturday Market and vendors will not be required to contribute a percentage of their profits.

"It’s not going to generate any revenue," said Terralumina. "The real effort here is to build a thriving community that knows that there are things people are producing locally."

The first day of the market is scheduled for May 2 and will continue every Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. through September at the corner of Kellog Way. and 2nd St. For more information, including how to sign up as a vendor, contact Terralumina at (360) 219-8534.
