Tuckness and TOPS

We have all had that time when we wish we could lose a few pounds, especially after the holidays. One person has taken off the pounds and kept it off for over 18 years and that person is Maralyn Tuckness.
She started with TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly) 18 years ago with a goal of 35-40 lbs. After reaching her goal Tuckness has kept it off with KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) for 17 years.
Tuckness is happy to share her story with individuals who have struggled. She got involved because "a friend had been a KOPS member for many years and I was encouraged to join TOPS and then KOPS. When we moved to this area from Covington (a suburb of Seattle) I put on extra weight and my friend recommended I give TOPS a shot." She tried TOPS and it has worked for her. She has kept her weight off all of these years.
"I didn't diet. I know there are certain foods I shouldn't eat and I stopped eating those foods. It was a lifestyle change that became a habit. If you do something for 21 days it becomes a habit," she stated.
It's obvious she enjoys her time at KOPS. "It's professionally run, we all get along great and I encourage every person, female or male, to join our group. We have a lot of fun in our meetings and we are accountable to each other. We are supportive of each other. It's a knowledge-based program. We give presentations weekly with what has helped each person. What works for one person may not work for the other. We like to educate each other on the different health programs," stated Tuckness.
So, if you have to lose those extra pounds after the holidays, TOPS may just be for you! They meet every Wednesday at 9 am at Winlock Assembly of God church on S.E. First Street.
