Since it is the beginning of a new year, I thought it was time to take another trip down memory lane about being from Winlock.
How many people remember Dr. Dugaw at his office across from the old feed store and the smell of his cherry tobacco? I think that was before we knew that smoking was bad for us. Dr. Yahn was the dentist in town and Novocain was optional. There was a motel in Winlock and all of us called it the "Yes Motel" but it was actually called "Sunrise Motel". I also remember a small store on the Ferrier road it was originally called Sarvela's Store then later we all called it "Arth's Store", you could buy all the staples you needed. Then on Sunday all the church bells seemed to chime in around the same time. There was also a store on the Winlock-Vader Road that sold groceries and was later a sale barn; the barn is still standing with the letter's "groceries" still on it. And who can forget going to Brinson's when you were in high school to have a good time...I tried to find it not long ago and the road was not visible. If you remember any of these things, you know you are from Winlock
