Saturday, March 8 is approaching, so mark your calendars for the annual S & M CHALLENGE, a 5-K Obstacle Course Race starring many organizations and local notables. Sponsored by the Cowlitz River Runners, it features more than 18 obstacles in the 3.1-mile course at our beautiful North County Sports Complex on Westside Highway by our Boat Launch area. Spectators will enjoy the fun, too, since this is no ordinary event. Races begin at 10 a.m. and additional information is also available at email@example.com. The Awards Ceremony should be entertaining, too. In case you missed last year’s pictures, the mud was everywhere. Bring your cameras.
How many missed the recent activity at Cowlitz & Huntington? All that hard work has brought us a new Chinese Restaurant, which is now open to serve you. The name: RENG HUA. It has family significance, and this husband-and-wife team are searching for part-time wait staff too, for lunch or dinnertime, so stop in to inquire and tell them we sent you. They offer a wide menu, and of course, carry out, so don’t forget to take a menu with you also. Open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days per week.
Aspiring writers, or those looking to enjoy the local flavor, two offerings are available for you: *The Castle Rock Senior Center and *Pacific Northwest Gift Gallery. The SENIOR CENTER has a continuing offering entitled: WRITE YOUR LIFE STORY as one of their many activities to enjoy at this friendly place, so stop by (adjacent to City Hall) and remember a Lifetime Membership is just $5 - can you believe it...Join the fun and meet the wonderful people, and rumor has it that many stories are available to read, while you enjoy a refreshment. Don’t forget to pick up their schedule of activities too. It changes monthly. The Center is open to all surrounding communities, so come visit us and let’s get to know one another.
Now for the first time, but hopefully not the last: THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST GIFT GALLERY is sponsoring an array of Saturday workshops in March for Writers Month, which include free book signings and readings from local writers. Terrie Spindle, the owner has invited you to get details at: TerrySpindleArt@aol.com, or stop in and browse her collection of local artists’ work and get the details personally, while enjoying all the talent that she has gathered in one spot - extraordinary. The workshops are no small undertaking for Terry, but if you know her, you wouldn’t be surprised. If her new venture is successful, we may see many more offerings in her cozy “backroom”, so let’s support her and have fun too.
For those who haven’t visited her shop, she’s located “Uptown” and adjacent to her family’s video rental store at 1316A Mt. St. Helens Way, or call 360-274-8583 for additional info. ***Also mention us and receive $10 off the cost of any workshop in March.
