Lewis County Commissioner Lee Grose has announced he will not be seeking re-election this year, leaving Toledo Mayor Jerry Pratt as the only announced candidate for the time being.
Grose has served two terms as a representative for District 3, which incorporates most of East Lewis County and parts of South Lewis County, and is currently serving as chair of the commission. When asked what prompted his decision to decline re-election, he said there was no reason in particular but it was simply "time to move on."
Seeking to fill Grose’s seat on the commission is Pratt, who informally announced his candidacy Feb. 18 and has been serving as Mayor of Toledo for the last 10 years. While a second candidate may still step forward to challenge Pratt for the position, none have yet done so publicly.
The official filing dates for the candidates seeking to participate in the November General Election will be the week of May 12.
