Vader man cited after driving into ditch

A Vader man has been cited after allegedly falling asleep at the wheel and diving into a ditch on Thursday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.

The 47-year-old driver of a 2007 Dodge Caravan had been traveling on the 900 block of Winlock-Vader Rd. around 1:08 p.m. when he he fell asleep, causing his vehicle to veer off the roadway. A male passenger in the vehicle told deputies he had to yell at the driver to wake him back up during the collision.

The passenger reported experiencing pain in his left shoulder while the driver, who reported no injuries, was cited for driving with wheels off the roadway.

Tools stolen from Vader outbuilding

An outbuilding was burgled in the Vader area last week, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.

The 61-year-old male victim state someone had broken into the shop at his residence on the 1600 block of SR 506, west of Vader, sometime between Nov. 12 and 18. Reported stolen were a Craftsman upright tool chest, a batter charger, wrenches and a motion light, with an estimated loss if $1,185.

It is believed the suspect(s) entered through the east side of the shop by cutting wires securing a window. It was reported evidence was recovered at the scene and the matter is under investigation.
