You may have seen or needed the service of Flowers by Pollen in the downtown of Aberdeen. Flowers by Pollen in downtown Aberdeen has recently changed ownership, as well as rebranded to Harbor Blooms and Gifts. Sheril Woodruff, who has been working under Pollen for five years, is taking up the floral business,
"We picked that name because it sounded like a very positive name and we wanted to include the harbor," said Woodruff. Woodruff told of how she came to be the new owner, "Janice Pollen had moved here from Vegas. She had bought an existing shop here in Aberdeen called Enchanted Florists, and that's how I got involved with Janice." Woodruff was already working at the Enchanted Florist's Floral Shop at the time that Pollen bought the business.
"The business started out as Enchanted Florists and then Pollen changed it to Flowers by Pollen, and now I'm changing it to Harbor Blooms and Gifts," said Woodruff.
Woodruff has worked at many floral shops before, listing that she has been through at least five shops, each of which she has been approached to purchase the shop.
"The reason that I've finally purchased this shop, my children are grown and I guess now I've really seen some of these kids I'd started out doing their first prom flowers, now I've done their weddings; baby showers and sadly enough, even deaths of family members. We have a huge sense of family with our people on the harbor. With this downtown core, we really want to see the downtown thrive," said Woodruff.
Harbor Blooms and Gifts is gearing up for Valentine's Day as well, bringing in new lines of fuge as well as Valentine's candys as well as flowers. Harbor Blooms and Gifts will have more custom designed bouquets, for all price ranges, "You can get an upper end arrangement without the upper-end price," said Woodruff.
Another activity to watch out for, Harbor Blooms and Gifts will have a class about four times a year, where people can come and do a priject and have something to take home with them. The classes will teach those attendning how to build things like plant terrariums and wreaths, all around food and drink, and would be a sort of "girl's night".
Remember to stop in and say hi to the new but familiar owner, Sheril Woodruff, and grab some flowers for the significant other for Valentine's Day.
