Knights of Columbus Council #1674 has earned the distinction of Double Star Council, for the 2014-2015 fraternal year. This award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of membership recruitment (reaching 200% of quota, thereby making it a "double star") and retention, promotion of the fraternal insurance program, and sponsorship of service-oriented activities. The award was presented to the membership by State Advocate & Membership Director Kim Washburn, at a special ceremonial banquet held on January 15, 2016 at Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church in Hoquiam, WA.
Carl A. Anderson, Supreme Knight of the organization, wrote; "On behalf of my fellow Supreme Officers and Board of Directors, please accept my sincere congratulations upon attaining this prestigious award. The dedication to the principles and aims of the Order shown by your officers and members is exemplified by the high standards of excellence you have achieved. May this award be a reminder and an inspiration to the members of your Council to continue to promote the ideals of Columbianism for the good of the Church, your community and the Order. I encourage you to continue your hard work and enthusiasm to meet the challenges of this new fraternal year."
"Receiving the Double Star Council Award is quite an honor for us. I am extremely proud of this accomplishment and, while I may be the individual receiving this plaque, the actual honor goes to all my fellow Knights that did the lions share of the work and they are the ones that deserve all the credit," proclaimed , Patrick K. McGuire, Past Grand Knight of the local Council. Patrick immediately turned this award over to Teodoro Jimenez, the current Grand Knight, who placed it in the Council Display cabinet where it will reside next to the many other awards these Knights have received over the years. Distinctive Double Star Lapel Pins were also presented to; Harry Paul, Council Program Director, Larry Wielchelman, Council Membership Director, and to Patrick McGuire, the Grand Knight at the time this award was earned.
