Pet of the Week 7.29.15

This beautiful girl, Tiki, is two to three years old and was dropped off at the jetty in Westport. She was friendly but a little stand-offish as she didn't know where or why she was there. Then she disappeared for awhile but showed back up much thinner and VERY friendly. Yes, she had delivered a litter of kittens but where? Our cat whisperer that feeds every morning followed her after she ate and discovered she went under a trailer that one of the businesses down there rent out, a vent screen had been knocked out. One of our small volunteers went under the trailer to see if she could find the kittens only to discover that they were way up in the insulation and we could not get to them. We would have to wait. We put a cat carrier with the door off under the trailer hoping that she might move them to a safe warm place. She is no dummy, that is exactly what she did. While Tiki was out eating a volunteer put the door back on the carrier with the kittens inside and we had the kittens and mom let us pick her up and put her in too. Now the kittens are fully weaned and up for adoption, in fact, only two are left. Mom has been spayed and is looking for her forever home too. Since she has had a taste of the outdoors she may prefer a place where she can be out a bit in a safe environment, but she is loving and a real character. If you would like to meet her or her two remaining kittens, come to the HAVA House any Wednesday from 3 pm to 6 pm or the first or third Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. The HAVA House is located at 431 2nd Street in Raymond.
