This year, the competition will continue – but with a different theme: PLACEMATS. Again, prizes will be awarded for the items drawing the most votes from the general public. And, again, the entries also will be judged as regular fair entries.
There are a few changes to the 2013 contest. Here are the general rules:
- Exhibitors may submit only one item;
- Each entry must be made by the exhibitor submitting it;
- Size will be significant; entries must be no larger than 14 inches by 20 inches, and no smaller than 12 inches by 18 inches;
- Items must be machine or hand-sewn; crocheted and knitted items will not be included in this competition.
While the competition theme of Placemats implies something to be used on a table, exhibitors are encouraged to use their imaginations and embellishments to “dress up” their entry. “Rickrack, beads, buttons and other decorative items are encouraged,” according to Sewing Building Supervisor Becky Coburn.
“Quilts and Roses, Tails and Noses” is the theme for the 2013 Pacific County Fair, which is scheduled Aug. 21-24 at the fairgrounds in Menlo.
