Everyone seems to have survived the very busy Craft Fair weekend. It was bigger than ever before and all went very smoothly. Serving food at the Café made a huge difference, and the weather cooperated so that everyone visited all the venues. Next time, there will be a sign for the Quilt Show.
The good news for all the volunteers who have made this and the Garage Sale weekends so successful is that things will be relatively quiet for a while. That is, until the 4th of July comes around. More on that later.
Meanwhile, the Second Annual Ryderwood Sock Hop is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, from 1 - 5 p.m. in the Auditorium of Community Hall. Our local DJ, Steve, will spin our favorite Rock 'n' Roll favorites. Dress up in your favorite 1950's attire (or not) and come out for a wonderful afternoon.
The local Red Hats Society has a Gathering planned for Thursday, May 21, at 2 p.m. in Pioneer Hall. They normally meet on the second Thursday of the month, but put it off a week because of the Craft Fair preparations. All ladies are invited for an afternoon of all fun and no work.
Saturday evening is another Game Night at the Café. All are invited to come out and play their favorite board or card games. There are lots of games available or bring your own.
Monday, May 25, is Memorial Day and our VFW veterans will have Buddy Poppies available on the Café porch. Show your support for our veterans by displaying a Buddy Poppy. And don't forget burgers and soup at the Café from 4-6 p.m.
The Senior Nutrition menu for Tuesday, May 26, is a picnic theme: Cheeseburger w/ toppings, Potato Salad and Strawberry Shortcake. This is a great place for newcomers to meet their neighbors and get a great meal for a $3 suggested donation. This week, call Jan at (360) 295-0597 to make or break reservations. Take-outs and substitutions are available with advance notice.
