Last Saturday was a gorgeous day and it was great to see folks who enjoyed the drive to the end of SR 506 for the 5th Annual Blues Concert. It was definitely worth it! Some good "old time" Blues started out the show, then cranked it up a bit with "Daddy Treetops", ending with a bluesy, jazzy, rock & roll Jam Session.
The roll-up security window has been installed in Ryderwood’s Post Office (98581), bringing us to the next stage of the new hours transition. Now that the building is open for more hours (11:30 – 3:30), Rose finally gets to appreciate shorter workdays. It really doesn’t bother me too much if I’m picking up yesterday’s mail when I go in the mornings.
The new Ryderwood Directories are now available. A beautiful "Goldfinch on Dogwood" drawing by local wildlife artist, Dennie Simpson graces the bright yellow cover. If you missed home delivery over the weekend, they can be obtained at "The Nest" and the RISA office. If you see the golf cart with the big yellow flashlight on the front, I usually have a supply with me.
This is a busy week for the ladies. The Women’s Club meets at Pioneer Hall on Wednesday at noon for a salad luncheon and a meeting to follow. On Thursday, all ladies are invited to dress up in their red & purple to enjoy tea and White Elephant Auction at 2 p.m. in Community Hall. Contact Carol at 295-8307 for information.
Remember to catch "Sweet Swing!" if you’re near Long Beach on Friday. Flag Day kicks off Summerfest and opening of Farmer’s Market. The new stage in the center of town will feature "Sweet Swing!" performing sets between 4 & 7 p.m. This a cappella trio "belts out" 40’s favorites in the style of USO performers. It’s bound to be great!
