This will be my last chance to invite folks to visit Ryderwood for the 10th Annual Arts & Crafts Fair this upcoming weekend, Oct. 17 and 18. Community Hall will be over-flowing with artists, crafters and vendors of fine hand-crafted items. The selections will offer many choices for early holiday shopping. (I hesitate to mention that subject because I still believe the Christmas season doesn't begin until after Thanksgiving...)
The nearly world famous "Grandma's Kitchen", will offer the very finest of home-baked goodies in the kitchen. Lunch will also be served out of the kitchen, but I'm not sure of the menu at the time of printing. Door prizes (donated by the Vendors) will be awarded throughout the 2 days.
The Quilt Display featuring the historic Ryderwood Signature Quilt will take place in the Café. This is not a judged show and no quilts will be for sale - except for ones that may be available at the Craft Fair.
About the advertised Car Show: There is no car club sponsoring this, and I fear true car buffs may be a wee bit disappointed. Weather permitting, there should be some local "wheels" to check out, and I imagine others will pay a visit. A fun "People's Choice Award" has been donated.
"The Nest" will be open, of course - welcome to the new vendors who have signed on since the re-opening. "The Nest", where everything is made in Ryderwood, offers a year 'round venue for our local crafters. Its regular hours of operation are Wednesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
This Saturday will be the monthly Town Potluck at 5 p.m. It will be held at the Café this month because of the Craft Fair clean-up at Community Hall. Bring your favorite dish and join the fun.
'Tis the season for Coffee Stops with 4 of them over a 2-week period - talk about meeting yourself coming and going! Not only are volunteers needed to staff the shifts, they will need lots and lots of cookies. As I've said before, these fund-raisers are a significant source of income for the non-profit groups in town.
Friday night's menu at the Café will be pulled pork sandwiches with homemade macaroni and cheese. The meals are always all-inclusive from beverage and salad to dessert. The meals are served at 5 p.m. Call Linda at (360) 295-0875 by Wednesday to make reservations. The menu for Senior Nutrition Lunch on Tuesday the 21st will be Turkey Wraps with fresh veggies and sliced peaches. Call Jan at (360) 295-0597 by 6 p.m. on Monday to make reservations.
Hope to see you next weekend at Ryderwood's 10th Annual Arts & Crafts Fair!
