It's time to mention Ryderwood's upcoming town-wide Garage Sales the weekend of August 28th and 29th. For those who are new to the area, these sales are held the last weekends of April and August. They are very popular, well-advertised and bring lots of visitors to town to cruise the alleys looking for good deals. For those whose homes are too small for all their belongings, now is a good time to plan for a sale or make donations to the Women's Club for their sale.
In case you missed this last week: The 31st Annual Mount St. Helens Bluegrass Festival is August 7 thru 9 and they are offering area Seniors half-price tickets for Saturday night's (after 4 p.m.) performance. Ryderwoodites can contact Dave Stormo for the discounted tickets, which will not be available at the gate.
Catalogs are available for ARTrails' 13th Annual Studio Tour, the 3rd and 4th weekends of September. "ARTrails provides a rare opportunity for the public to meet artists in their studio/workplace and to observe techniques of work in progress." Resident luthier (aka ukulele-maker), Howard Replogle, is on this year's tour, literally putting Ryderwood on the centerfold map. Ryderwood's ads are on page 16.
The Tea-Hee Red Hats group has an Outing to Hoffstadt Bluffs Visitors Center planned for Thursday. They will carpool from the Café at 11:30 a.m. All ladies are invited to dress up in the red and purple for an afternoon of fun, food and frivolity. Contact Michele at 295-0899 for information.
Friday night's dinner entrée at the Café will be Russ' Chicken Marsala. Served at 5 p.m., the all-inclusive meal includes, salad, beverage and dessert for $9. Please call 295-0875 by Wednesday to make reservations.
Saturday is Game Nite at the Café, starting at 7 p.m. The games played depend on who comes. There are usually tables of Pinochle, 5 Crown, Scrabble and Backgammon with lots of other choices: checkers, Chinese checkers, Monopoly to name a few. Hot popcorn and some finger foods are available.
Tuesday's Senior Nutrition meal on the 28th will be Tatertot Casserole with cole slaw and sliced oranges. The meals are served at noon and a $3 donation is requested. All readers over the age of 60 are eligible for this program. Please make or break reservations by 6 p.m. on Monday by calling 295-3813.
Have a great week and please don't play with matches.
