On January 24, 2016, at 10:01PM Hoquiam officers responded to a report of a display of a weapon at a residence in the 700 block of 4th Street. Further information provided by dispatch was five to six subjects had entered a residence uninvited and assaulted one of the occupants with a pair of nunchucks.
Upon arrival officers contacted an 18 year old Hoquiam man who was bleeding from the head and mouth. The victim had been watching television in his residence with two of his friends when the six suspects came in unannounced through an unlocked door. At least three of the suspects participated in assaulting the victim, at least one of them armed with a pair of nunchucks, while the others watched the assault take place.
The victim suspected the suspects were actually looking to confront his 19 year old roommate who was not home at the time. The victim was able to name four of the six people who had entered his residence unlawfully and assaulted him.
At about 1:32 AM, Hoquiam officers went to an address in the 1400 block of Aberdeen Avenue in Aberdeen in an attempt to locate several of the suspects. With the assistance of Aberdeen Police and the Grays Harbor County Sheriff's K9, Hoquiam Police were able to arrest two men involved in the incident. A 19 year old Elma man and a 18 year old Aberdeen man were taken into custody and transported back to the Hoquiam Police Department. Hoquiam officers conducted interviews of the two subjects and both were later transported to the GHC jail where they were booked on the charge of Burglary in the 1st Degree. Hoquiam officers checked several locations throughout the evening which led to locating a 17 year old Hoquiam girl which was the lone female involved with the six who had entered the residence uninvited. The female was interviewed and booked into the Grays Harbor County Juvenile Detention Facility on the charge, Burglary in the 1st Degree.
Hoquiam detectives were called in to assist with writing and later serving a search warrant to recover the nunchucks which were used during the assault and in locating the other three suspects involved in the incident. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence in the 1400 block of Aberdeen Avenue in Aberdeen. During the search the nunchucks believed to be used in the assault were recovered. Also at the residence was a 23 year old Aberdeen man who was believed to be one of the six who entered the residence the night before. The man was taken into custody, transported to the Hoquiam Police Department, where he was interviewed and later booked into the county jail on the charge Burglary in the 1st Degree.
Two suspects remain at large, an 18 year old Hoquiam man and 19 year old Aberdeen man. Arrest warrants are being sought through the prosecutor's office.
Two separate personal effects were left behind at the scene, a hat and wallet. The wallet contained the identification of one of the suspects which is in custody.
