by Nolan Patching
On Easter Sunday, three people with outstanding warrants were found and arrested in a Winlock home. This home had false walls where one of the men was found and a hiding place in the garage where two other people were found. Chief John Brockmueller said, "It was kind of like a big Easter egg hunt." Cody Lee Salzer, 26, of Winlock is linked with a 2014 assault. According to court documents, Salzer struck a man with metal knuckles which were a black color. The victim woke up in the morning with eight to nine facial fractures including a broken nose, jaw, cheek bone, skull, an orbital fracture, and broken teeth. The victim has received reconstructive surgery since. Santana Bates, 18, a transient, and Dawn Learmont, 41, of Vader, were arrested also. Bates and Learmont had outstanding warrants from the state Department of Corrections. Salzer had a bench warrant for failing to appear on a summons for second-degree assault.
Two Victims Stabbed in Winlock, Both Hospitalized
Two Winlock residents were stabbed on the 300 block of Cedar Court on Friday night. No names have been released yet. Police responded to a house call from a man with stab wounds which are believed to have come from a small knife. A woman with similar wounds was found who had left the house earlier to call the police from a neighbor's house. Police suspect this was a domestic violence incident and no third party was involved. The victims are currently at Providence Hospital in Centralia undergoing care.
