With this economy, thieves are becoming so brazen they are even breaking into jails...always thought it should be the opposite! Unfortunately, the Historic Vader Jail was broken into with a few items missing. (See police report on page 5.) It's sad, and we hope it won't happen again.

May Day Celebration is just 6.5 weeks away! Committee Chairman Wanda Smith says parade entry forms are located at the following places: Vader City Hall, Winlock City Hall and Library, Toledo City Hall, Napavine City Hall, J&G Grocery.

Anita De La Rosa and Barbara Small are Queen Chairmen this year, while Jody Weimer and Carole Jones are conducting the Cake Walk. Nick Smith will be the announcer and Ross and Rita McDowell will be responsible for the parade line up. Those wishing to set up vendor spaces should call Smith at (360) 295-3559. Let's make this years celebration a winner in Diana Trahanes' memory.

C.E.R.T. is taking applications for 20 hours of emergency training, best course in the West! Call Liz at (360) 200-5909, or Sonya (360) 704-2763 (new number) to sign up. Training runs April 12-14. "Victims" are also needed for the April 14 to help stage a disaster. Let Sonya know.

Park Board Chairman Steve Krohn could use some help finishing the swing set ground underlay at Werden Park. Show you care about our community children and please give him a call at (360) 880-6281 and volunteer.

The Love's Mystery Run was a success! 19 bikers came through a rainstorm to visit our town and hear some of its history. They toured the jail and the Ben Olson Mansion, had a yummy lunch and headed back to Vancouver...Nice to have visitors and show off our community.

Lions will meet one more time this month on Thursday, starting at 7 p.m.
